My birth name is Susan Charles (later on Sue Rankin). My mother's country is that of the Jaara people from the Kulin nation - otherwise known as Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

About the Walk

Sacred Life Walk 2007 is a journey of life. Why? Because life is sacred.

This journey came about by the teachings of my great grandmother Dorothy Grace Briggs (nicknamed Dolly after Dolly Dalrymple from Tasmania).  Great Granny was the daughter of Louissa Esmal Struggnal who had changed her name from Trugganini and married a Dutch sealer called John Briggs. Between them they had 18 children who then married into all the land mobs of the Kulin Nation (Melbourne and surrounds, Victoria).

Great Granny right from a little kid had told me all these things of what was going to happen way ahead of time and had said "Susie, when you see these things start to take place that I am telling you about, then it is time to get up and go unite with the old people in the desert.. and she pointed to the morning star wommuloo.

She said that when we start to see the pain and suffering of the human race and mother earth get so bad then it is time to go. She said that there will come a time when we have to stop putting our trust and faith in politics and money to save our people. We must look beyond their man made rule of law system and unite the people as one under creator spirit (bunjil) and the universal rule of natural law.

Climate Changes and the Destruction of Mother Earth

The most important thing she said to me was to watch for the signs of nature, meaning these climatic shifts and changes that are coming our way.

She said that in time to come, Creator Spirit and Mother Earth through nature were going to change everything and that while we are wasting time on a political level, Creator Spirit and Mother Earth were going to change everything - they are working to their own time frame.

No amount of politics, money or scientific knowledge can stop that as they would be working against the universal rule of natural law.

The Seven Sisters

Then in 2004, Seven Sisters from different language groups met together at Monash University in Melbourne Victoria and for the first time we had a chance to talk about what was handed down through our Grannies and the stories of the Seven Sisters.  We also talked about what was going on in the world and our own research. We compared this to our ancient knowledge and visions of what was to come on a political and environmental level.

This was when I decided that we had to unite the people to pass on the knowledge that was handed down to us.

So, this is how Sacred Life Walk 2007 came to be. We are in a time of great urgency with these climatic shifts and changes that are coming our way. These changes are in accordance with our ancient oral histories and traditions handed down from generation to generation over many thousands of years. 

A New Beginning..

We need to start a new dreaming. Our old people have been through many climatic shifts and changes of the Earth's atmosphere and environment over many thousands of years.

There is too much pain and suffering in the world, and Mother Nature has had enough of this taking, taking, taking. We take everything from her for our material wealth and gain.. But like any structure if you take out the foundation it collapses and this is what is happening to Mother Earth

We need to learn to respect the wisdom of those people who have been walking this land for over 50,000 years. They have important knowledge about what to do and how to survive these climatic shifts and changes that are taking place.
